“You learn a lot from loss. You learn what it is that we’re not doing to get where we want to go. It really gets your attention and it really motivates the work ethic of your team when you’re not doing well”
Coming out of our opening match this weekend against North Bay Women’s Rugby, this quote speaks to our experience. While it’s true we did not win, in the words of our coach, it was a great foundational game. The first half of the match may have been a little rusty, but the second half showed incredible improvement, and the tremendous potential of our team. More importantly, the game gave us an idea of where we are as a team, and how we can improve from there. As we head into practice this week, we have the chance to make these improvements, and we are DETERMINED to do so! With a little motivation, solid work ethic, and our coach’s careful planning, the AUWRFC that takes on GW next weekend is going to be new, improved, and unstoppable!
Also, a shout out to our rookies who played in their first match! In both the A and B side matches, our rookies really stepped up and impressed us with their amazing talent. We look forward to seeing them grow and improve throughout the season. Women of the Match for this weekend were Miranda and Killah for their hard work, drive, and leadership, and Laura for her amazing starting performance in her first match, even under the pressure of an experienced opposing back line. Keep up the great work!
